The architect office J.van Stigt was founded in 1966 by Joop van Stigt. In 1999 van Stigt sr. transferred the office fully to his son Andre van Stigt, who already had been working together with his father since 1981. Over the last 20 years, the office, located at the Herengracht in a Vingboons house dated 1665, besides new building of houses and non residential buildings, has more and more specialized in restoration, renovation and reuse (revival) of existing and mainly monumental buildings. The inspiration and passion of Andre van Stigt and his team for all the Social and Cultural Heritage of buildings, has not only to the city of Amsterdam but also broader returned many beautiful monuments. The office philosophy is that the architect is the trusted representative of the principal. The architect is personally and intensively involved in the complete building process, from the start of the design till the execution phase, from the mainline till the details, his knowledge and expertise of the budget control (calculations and the specification) is used and the architect carries out his responsibility by project supervision and integration of the installations, the so called all engineering process. Many awards have been given to the work of the architect office; int. all. four times the National Renovation Price for the restoration of the Olympic Stadium, the Entrepotdok, the Grainsilo's and the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam. |
